It is a good idea to make the Apple Walnut Cream Cheese Pound Cake a day ahead if you are planning for guests. I love bundt cakes. Roasted Cinnamon Buttery Pears

Roasted Cinnamon Buttery Pears, simple dish showcasing the straightforward flavor of pears.  They are buttery slightly sweet served as an accompaniment to pork, garnished in a winter salad, but also makes an elegant dessert for a fall dinner party, bridal brunch and quick weeknight snack. Pears rarely get center stage over apples and pumpkins in the fall, but for me, they sing fall.  Roasting fruit is a purist way to dress up fruit for dessert or accompaniment to other dishes. As much as I like pears, I do not wish to mask the pure flavor of the pear with a lot of other intense flavors.  When I eat pears, I want to taste pears.

American Flag Pie with Homemade Pie Crust

American Flag Pie,  is made with a homemade pie crust that brings this pie to a rich balance of buttery flakiness as well as a luscious sweet-tart taste of homemade pie filling.    My Mother taught me long ago that a pie is only as good as its crust. While there is some high quality ready made pie crust in the stores today, that was not the case when I was growing up. I learned to make pie dough from my Mother and perfected it in my Home Economics class in high school. I recommend making a homemade pie crust if at all possible.  For the American Flag Pie recipe, I use one of my favorite pie crust recipes.

Cranberry Orange Bundt Cake

Cranberry Orange Bundt Cake , a beautiful festive dessert with the flavor combo of cranberry and orange.  Perfect for any holiday occasion, but especially around Christmas time.    Tis the season for cranberry and orange, right?  I love the combination and look forward to it every year.   I watch for the cranberries to be stocked in the stores.   The sweetness of the orange and the tartness of the cranberries trigger a beautiful burst of flavor everytime they come together.    This is cake can be a breakfast cake or a dessert cake and why not include it in the snack category too.  Oh! And don't forget about afternoon tea. haha!

Grandma's Turkey and Cornbread Dressing

GRANDMA'S CORNBREAD DRESSING STUFFED TURKEY Grandma's Cornbread dressing stuffed turkey is a whole baked turkey that is placed in a pan of cornbread dressing and then baked.  The best turkey and dressing you will ever eat.  And don't forget the giblet gravy. This is my Mother in law Betty's recipe.  When I came into the family, I was not used to eating turkey stuffed with cornbread dressing.  I grew up eating the turkey baked separately from the dressing.   It did not take me long to get used to eating the turkey and dressing stuffed.

Cranberry Pork Chops {Perfect for Thanksgiving}

Cranberry Pork Chops, thick succulent pork chops browned in a cast iron skillet on top of the stove, covered with whole cranberry sauce, a sprig of rosemary and finished off in the oven.  Perfect for a Thanksgiving alternative from traditional turkey. Pork chops are a favorite around our house.  We like them fried, grilled, smothered, in casseroles and just about any way you can cook them.  We do prefer the bone in pork chops for grilling and frying because they are juicier.  The boneless ones have their place though, like in casseroles and dishes that are served with sauces.

Cornbread and Wild Rice Dressing

Cornbread and wild rice dressing is a classic Southern dish that combines cornbread dressing with a wild rice mixture, creating a casserole full of fall flavors. WILD RICE AND CORNBREAD DRESSING Wild Rice and Cornbread Dressing is a rich, moist, savory, and crisp side dish that is uniquely delicious for a Thanksgiving meal.  For me, there can never be too many Southern cornbread dressing recipes.  I, for one, do not think dressing is just for a Thanksgiving meal.  We love it all year long.

Cranberry Breakfast Cake

Cranberry Breakfast Cake  is a scrumptious breakfast cake made with butter, sugar, sour cream, and fresh cranberries. A hint of almond flavoring makes this cake sing on Christmas morning! CRANBERRY COFFEE CAKE This delightful Cranberry Coffee Cake is very festive for your holiday menu.  It is even better made the night before. I love cranberry breakfast cakes and have a few secrets to share when making them. The secret lies in the use of ingredients. First, it has to be moist with the perfect balance of tenderness, not crumbly, and easy to cut and serve.  I can't stand a crumbly breakfast cake.   This is why I like to use sour cream in the batter. It produces the richest cake you will ever make and perfects the texture. Second, it has to have the perfect balance of sweetness and tartness.  That comes with a good amount of sugar in the recipe and a little lighter on the cranberries.

Homemade Oatmeal Raisin Creme Pies

Homemade Oatmeal Raisin Creme Pies , two soft, chewy oatmeal cookies sandwiched with homemade marshmallow creme frosting.  A copycat of the beloved Little Debbie Cookies in lunchboxes across the country.  A box of these classic cookies never stayed long around our house much less for lunches.  Everyone in the house also loved them for an after school snack.
