Baked Ham {Great Grandmother's Recipe}

Traditionally Baked Ham at our house growing up was served for special occasions like Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  My Mother-in-law always cooked her hams low and slow, and she never put a glaze on it.  She used the ham juices to baste with. Jim's Mother's recipe for baked ham was relatively easy and yielded an absolutely delicious result. This is because she cooked her ham low and slow in the oven without adding a glaze, and the end result was melt in your mouth.  Her secret to cooking an amazing ham was to add water to the pan, cover with foil and baste with the ham juices occasionally during the cooking, approximately every 30 minutes. Pure Deliciousness!

Beef Stew with Butternut Squash and Fennel

Beef Stew with Butternut Squash and Fennel is a hearty stew that is warm and cozy.  The perfect one pot dish that can feed any one's love for comfort food! For a long time, I have wanted to add some flair to my Simply Beef Stew recipe, which we love. Who doesn't love one pot meals? You might say that this stew is a layer and layers of flavors all in one pot.  The stew begins with the beef coated with flour and seasonings.  Then I add onions, fennel, and carrot, then onto the butternut squash and potatoes, and ending with a slow simmer with a bay leaf and sprigs of thyme.  What else can I say, this Beef Stew with Butternut Squash and Fennel is a wonderfully aromatic dish that can feed any one's love for comfort food! The recipe for those cute little biscuits is here ! Beef Stew with Butternut Squash and Fennel 3 tablespoons olive oil 2 lbs. beef stew meat 1/4-12 cup flour 1 teaspoons garlic powder 1 teaspoon ground coriander 2 teaspoon

7 Layered Salad, {Granny's Recipe}

A classic 70's dish, 7-Layer Salad can be made a day ahead, easy to carry to gatherings, lovely to look at when assembled in a glass bowl.  It is certainly a crowd pleaser.  The 7 Layered Salad has been around for a long time even though as a newlywed in the 70's, I thought that it was my Mother's original creation (smiles).

Granny's German Chocolate Pie My mother passed down her German Chocolate Pie recipe to me. Coconut Banana Bread

I could make Coconut Banana Bread every day.  It has become one of my personal favorites.  I think it is the combination of the coconut, bananas, and butter that makes it so moist and yummy. Any Banana Bread recipe I come across, I am going to jump on it. That is exactly what happened with this recipe. A sweet friend of mine gave me a recipe for banana bread that does not call for any milk, sour cream, yogurt, etc. I have never seen a recipe that didn't call for some sort of dairy product. I couldn't wait to try it, and I am here to tell you that this is the moistest Banana Bread ever.

Simple Peach Salad {Granny's Recipe}

Individual Peach Salads nestled in iceberg lettuce bring so many memories of my Mother serving them. My Mother was such a creative and frugal cook.  She could take whatever we had in the refrigerator or pantry and served a fantastic meal that was her crown of glory. Priceless .
