French toast comprises of three main ingredients, and that is eggs, milk, and the bread. You can use almost any type of bread, but my favorite is the thick Texas toast.  That is where the Texas Style French Toast comes from.  he! he!

Cornbread and a Cold Glass of Milk

Baked Cornbread,  cut a slice and pour cold milk over it in a glass.  In the South this is poor mans food but no one ever knew it because it taste like your eating like a king! When I came into the Little family, I was used to eating Southern Buttermilk Cornbread . Needless to say the longer I was in the family, the more I began to have a taste for sweet cornbread. Traditionally, sweet cornbread contains equal portions of flour and yellow cornmeal with a liberal amount of sugar.  There is one thing that has not changed since I came into the family and that is my affection for a late night snack of a cold glass of Milk and Cornbread.

Creole Stewed Fresh Okra, {Granny's Recipe}

Fresh Creole Stewed Okra , a humble but beloved Southern favorite, with spicy Creole flavors for a mouthwatering side dish. This recipe calls for fresh or canned vegetables, so no rules.  Use what is in the pantry or refrigerator. Since I still had plenty of okra leftover from the last blog post, I decided to make my Mother's Creole Okra.

Southern Fried Okra, {Granny's Recipe}

Southern Fried Okra , a simple Southern classic, okra dredged in self-rising cornmeal, then fried until golden.  Want to know the simple secret to keeping okra crisp on the outside while tender on the inside?  My Mother was an expert at Pan Frying Okra. She could fry it crispy-on-the-outside, almost caramelized shell and at the same time very tender inside.

Homemade Banana Pudding {Granny's Recipe}

Homemade Banana Pudding , rich and creamy homemade pudding poured over Nilla wafers and fresh banana slices, old fashioned goodness like Grandma makes. You could say my Mother made real homemade pudding, the kind you cook on the stove from scratch, not out of a box.  It's not hard just takes a little more time.

Classic Chicken Spaghetti {wonderful cheesy one-pot meal from start to finish!}

Chicken Spaghetti is the classic comfort food around our house.  A wonderful cheesy one-pot meal from start to finish. I am finishing out this week's favorite dishes of my husband with this wonderful Classic Chicken Spaghetti. Although, Chicken and Dumplings come in real close. I was pulling items out of our chest freezer looking for something to cook, and I found a whole chicken that gave me the idea to make some Chicken Spaghetti.
