Grandma's Slumber Night Party 2011

12:20 AM
The time has come around for our Grandma's Slumber Night Party we have each year. This year I think the grandchildren were extra excited to get together since we were not able to have one last year because of Grandpa's illness. For me, it is the highlight of the year.  We have different crafts, each one makes their own individual dinner, and then we watch a movie that makes us all laugh. Our theme is always God centered and full of fun!

He Is The Light Of The World...John 3:12

One of the crafts this year was making Stain Glass Votives. Some tissue paper, glue, a votive holder and a brush are all you'll need - and the variations are endless. Over the years I kept tissue paper from various gifts.

As you can see, they turned out so cute!

We talked about how the Lord is the light of the world and how He wants us to shine His light so others can see the Lord in them. How wonderful to know that in a world of darkness, we can have the light of life through Jesus Christ, the light of the world!

For our dinner we made Hobo Dinners. Each one made their own.  On a sheet of foil, you layer a hamburger patty, half of potato, slice of onion, baby carrots, and season with salt and pepper.  Wrap it all up together and put it in the oven for an hour (we cooked the meat on the grill first as not to heat the oven to long).  They not only enjoyed making them--they enjoyed eating them.

For dessert, we had Ice Cream Sundays with all the trimmings. We dipped small balloons in melted chocolate to make a chocolate bowl, but they were soft because we didn't let them set up long enough. They looked so funny and as soon as we put the ice cream in them---then they were hard as a rock. I wish I had taken pictures. We talked and laughed so much. We would stop and then start up laughing again. Fun Times for sure.

Children will not remember you for the material things you provided, but for the feeling that you cherished them.
