Tortellini, Cabbage, and Kielbasa Recipe
If you're searching for the easiest, fastest comfort meal, you'll love this recipe. My family enjoys it not just on weeknights but on any night of the week.
The recipe for Tortellini Cabbage and Kielbasa was created while I was preparing the classic fried cabbage and onions for my college-aged grandson.
I had some tortellini in the refrigerator from SAM's and thought that adding it to the fried cabbage would make the dish more filling and comforting.
Boy, was I right. So much so that it has become a favorite meal around our house, often.
You start creating layers of flavor by caramelizing the onions and cabbage, then adding the chopped kielbasa and the tortellini. The key is to add the tortellini last so they are tender yet sturdy.
Since then, my grandson has married. I wanted him and his new bride to enjoy this recipe and a few others, so I bought all the ingredients, printed the recipes, and came by their apartment to teach them how to make them.
Sweet Memories were made. I hope you get to make the recipe soon.

TIPS AND TIDBITS FOR THE BEST TORTELLINI, CABBAGE, AND KIELBASA
Build the flavor base. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet, and saute them in the vegetable oil. Then add the cabbage to the skillet and cook until all the juices develop a light caramelization. Remember not to overcook the cabbage, just until it's bright green. Add the chopped kielbasa and cooked tortellini at the end.
Flavor variations. Stir in heavy cream and shredded cheddar cheese at the end to create a rich, creamy sauce that coats everything. You can even make a hearty soup by adding more water or chicken stock to transform the skillet into a filling soup.
Herbs and spices. For a boost of flavor, try seasoning with paprika, garlic powder, and fresh parsley or sliced green onions.
Change up the kielbasa. Try Cheddar Skinless Smoked Sausage, Four Pepper Skinless Smoked Sausage, or the Jalapeno & Cheddar Smoked Sausage.
Leftovers. The leftovers are good, but keep in mind that the tortellini will expand and fall apart the longer they sit leftover.
