The name of this beloved sandwich gets it honest.

They are as tasty as they are sloppy. The name comes by piling so much of the meat sauce on a giant hamburger bun, a tiny slider buns, or between two slices of your favorite bread, you cannot help but need a napkin.  Did I say they were messy?

The simplest version of Sloppy Joes Sandwiches is how it all began in the United States during the early 20th century.

Do you remember the last Sloppy Joe you had?  I am guessing the last time your mother made them or a school cafeteria lunch, as I recall, usually on the same day of the week.

For some reason, this humble sandwich has lost its favor with sandwich lovers in the last few years.

I used to make these sandwiches on game night and serve them with french fries.  It was a quick meal, and my children loved them.

When my daughter was in college, she would stop by the local Bodacious Bar-B-Q and buy a soppy joe sandwich for $1.  Now those were the days.
