Valentine Treats! Marshmallow Pops

Valentine's Marshmallow Pops are the perfect treat to make for celebrating Love in the air!  Each one can personalize their favorite candy.     What do you do with your grandchildren for Valentine's ?  In the last few years, one of my favorite things to do with the grandchildren around holidays or celebrations is to include them in making treats.  Not only is it fun for them, but they also have the time of their life getting to use their creativity and imagination, not to say their appetites too -- for all those yummy ingredients. This year I wanted to do something that they could dip chocolate in since I had so much left over from Christmas.  At first, I thought of strawberries (and they love those), then I thought about cake balls (and they love those), but I saw these strawberry marshmallows at Walmart and decided that they would be fun to dip too.  To add little piazzas to them, I bought some Valentine's sprinkles, and as you can see in the picture also, the cocon

Texas Style BBQ  Hot Wings  are crispy, tender, spicy hot,  sticky sweet and smothered with Baby Ray BBQ Sauce.  Delish! I prefer to bake my chicken wings in the oven until golden brown and crispy instead of frying them. Especially while the Super Bowl Game is on, so I am free to get the rest of the appetizers ready. After they have baked, I toss them with a mixture of hot sauce and barbecue sauce. Not only do they call for a few ingredients, but also they are fast and easy to make. They are the perfect bite. In the beginning, you taste the tangy sweet and end up with that wonderful hot spicy flavor in the back of your mouth. Yummy! Old-fashioned Coconut Meringue Pie, just like Grandma used to make. Get the recipe for the perfect pie filling and a secret to keep the meringue from shrinking! Southern Coconut Meringue Pie Homemade Coconut Meringue Pie is a staple in the South.  The pie filling is a rich, creamy custard loaded with sweetened coconut poured into a flaky, prebaked pie crust, then piled with a luscious cloud of meringue and sprinkled generously with sweetened coconut. Not knowing this yesterday, I made a Coconut Meringue Pie and an  Old Fashioned Butterscotch Pie to take to our Life Group Meeting this evening. How cool is that!

Hot Sweet Pepper Relish and Spicy Pinto Beans

Hearty, flavorful Pinto Beans cooked with Mexican-style seasonings make a great side dish,  with cornbread and topped with hot sweet pepper relish! I just read or heard on a food show that it has long been said that pinto beans originated in San Antonio and some refer to them as "Cowboy Beans". I don't know all about that, all I remember is that my mother cooked a lot of them when I was growing up in the 60's, so delicious, and I never got tired of them! Many a time they were the main course on our dinner table with a pan of cornbread and Chow Chow.
