Cherry Nut Cake {Granny's Recipe}

Cherry Nut Cake , three layers of spice cake with a blanket of rich caramel filling adorned with candied cherries and walnuts scattered throughout each layer.  Family traditions during the holidays are what makes memories. My Mother would always make this  Cherry Nut Cake  around Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Pumpkin Butternut Squash Soup

As soon as the pumpkins came out this year, I knew I wanted to make Pumpkin Soup . This is a simple pumpkin soup with the addition of butternut squash that has been roasted.   I came across this recipe for Pumpkin Butternut Squash Soup over at Joy The Baker and liked her combination of the butternut squash along with the pumpkin. As she says, this is a creamy and super healthy soup that can be made in so many directions.

Baked Ham {Great Grandmother's Recipe}

Traditionally Baked Ham at our house growing up was served for special occasions like Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.  My Mother-in-law always cooked her hams low and slow, and she never put a glaze on it.  She used the ham juices to baste with. Jim's Mother's recipe for baked ham was relatively easy and yielded an absolutely delicious result. This is because she cooked her ham low and slow in the oven without adding a glaze, and the end result was melt in your mouth.  Her secret to cooking an amazing ham was to add water to the pan, cover with foil and baste with the ham juices occasionally during the cooking, approximately every 30 minutes. Pure Deliciousness!
