Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Blossoms

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Blossoms are homemade candy made with crunchy rice cereal, creamy peanut butter mixture, and a chocolate kiss candy.  Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Kisses took me a long way back when I visited my sister at her house for Christmas. I can still remember looking in each Christmas tin she had her goodies in until I found them. Oh, with the combination of the peanut butter mixture and the chocolate kiss in the center, you could quickly go to "yummieville" (a sugar coma, you might say) real quick!

Chocolate Drizzled Cherry Delights

Chocolate Drizzled Cherry Delights  are full of cherries and chopped walnuts with a drizzle of Ghirardelli milk chocolate.  You could say this is a  WIN WIN  cookie.  I make these around Christmas, and since I didn't get to post them, I thought they would also be a great V a l e n t i n e cookie treat.

Oven Fried Chicken {Granny's Recipe}

Oven Fried Chicken is a method of cooking chicken in the oven, but taste just like fried chicken, without all the fuss it takes to fry it. Oven Baked Chicken is another recipe from my mother's dinner table. I remember coming home from college, and she would have Oven Fried Chicken on the table, one of my very favorites. My mother worked for a half-way house, Monday through Friday.   She cooked the noon meal, and when she came home in the evenings, she would often cook a recipe much quicker and easier to prepare than she cooked at noon. If you want to, you can add some rosemary, thyme, and other herbs on top while baking. It gives a delicious depth of flavor. Although My mother was such a simplistic cook and cooked with few ingredients, she always brought a lot of love to the table with her delicious dishes. Mother would have served Oven Fried Chicken with something similar as I served,  Chunky Buttered Potatoes , and Glazed Carrots . Come and join me over at P

Chunky Buttered Potatoes

How many ways can you fix potatoes? My husband is a meat and potatoes guy. He could eat potatoes every meal I think, so I am always changing up the potatoes in our house. This time I used a simple version of the typical mashed potatoes without adding in the milk. As I said in the previous post, he likes the purest form of the vegetable, and this is as close as you can get to it. Potatoes prepared this way go well with the Oven Fried Chicken and Glazed Carrots with Thyme .

Glazed Carrots With Thyme

Something as simple as buttered carrots can be taken to a new level with just adding a fresh sprig of thyme to them.

Jalapeno-Cheddar Scones

Jalapeno Cheddar Scones , pillows of tender biscuit like bread with speckles of jalapenos and cheddar cheese running all through it.   As I was thinking about what to make to go with my Simply Venison Stew, I remembered seeing Jalapeno Cheddar Scones over at Kristen's blog, Blissful Bites.   They looked scrumptious.

Simply Venison Stew

This  Simply Venison Stew  is another family favorite using venison that I serve often. It is a simple recipe, yet bold with flavor. The long, slow cooking in a homemade beef broth ensures that the meat will be tender and succulent. If you don’t have venison, feel free to substitute beef chuck, rump roast or sirloin tip. Serve with dinner rolls or as I did with Jalapeno Cheddar Scones for sopping up those delicious juices. Venison Stew Ingredients: 3 tablespoons olive oil 2 pounds venison stew meat 1/4-1/2 cup flour 1 teaspoons garlic powder 1 teaspoon ground coriander 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon coarse ground pepper 2 cups chopped onions 1 cup chopped celery 1 cup chopped carrots 1 tablespoon chopped garlic 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme 2 bay leaves 4-6 potatoes, cubed 2-3 cups homemade beef broth (or canned) Directions: In a large pot, over high heat, add the olive oil. In a mixing bowl, toss the venison with flour and garlic powder, c
