Crockpot (Hen) Chicken & Dressing , all the bells and whistles of traditional Turkey and Dressing flavors cooked in a crockpot.  A Southern favorite all year around! During our cool spell here in Texas a couple of weeks ago, I had a hankering for some Chicken and Dressing after seeing a Facebook friend post that she was making some for her family.

Early in the 1900's there were iceboxes in most house, and the pies were made with a baked pastry crust and a whipped filling without any worry of the pie oozing all over the plate.

There are so many fresh vegetables and fruits, you cannot leave without something.   Who remembers the roadside produce stands that were popular in the '50s and '60s?  This is as close to one as you can get these days. We loaded up with fresh peaches, wild red plums, cantaloupes,  Fresh Lady Cream Peas , and their famous fresh peach soft serve ice cream.  Yum!
