Grandma's Slumber Night Party 2011
The time has come around for our Grandma's Slumber Night Party we have each year. This year I think the grandchildren were extra excited to get together since we were not able to have one last year because of Grandpa's illness. For me, it is the highlight of the year. We have different crafts, each one makes their own individual dinner, and then we watch a movie that makes us all laugh. Our theme is always God centered and full of fun! 2011 Grandma's Slumber Night Party He Is The Light Of The World...John 3:12 One of the crafts this year was making Stain Glass Votives. Some tissue paper, glue, a votive holder and a brush are all you'll need - and the variations are endless. Over the years I kept tissue paper from various gifts. Southern Style! Fresh Lady Cream Peas With Delicious Hot Water Cornbread {Granny's Recipe}
Growing up in North East Texas, my Mother knew several truck farmers that grew different kinds of peas in the summer. During pea season, my sisters and I would gather in the living room with paper bags for the shells and big bowls for the peas and shell peas as we watched soap operas (yes, I use to watch soap operas (whisper) and while we sat with fans blowing on us. It's funny, back then we didn't have air conditioning and we didn't seem to be bothered by the hot summers as much as we do today. Wonder why? I remember, we even would go and get in a circle under our big tree in the backyard sometimes too and shell peas. Oh, the memories of those days are flooding in. By the time a bushel or two were shelled, Mother would have the first pot of Lady Cream Peas (Sometimes called Zipper Cream Peas) already cooked and waiting for us to eat with some Hot Water Cornbread to go with them, and maybe a slice or two of homegrown tomatoes and onion. Lemon Lime Sugar Cookies {Caleb's Yummy Creation}
Here is another cookie recipe we made during our cookie marathon I had when the Grandchildren were here. These Lemon Lime Sugar Cookies were made by Caleb, my 10 year old grandson, and came about when we decided that we needed another flavor besides chocolate and peanut butter. Caleb is so creative and such a perfectionist when is comes to choosing a great presentation. We had some mini M&Ms leftover from Easter so he picked out the yellow and green ones for this recipe. He did such a fantastic job. He not only worked so hard at reading and getting the recipe right, he made them look so pretty. Just that little bit of chocolate mixed with the lemon lime in the cookies made these super delicious!

Jalapeno Burger {Every Bite Has A Kick}
I have been seeing on the commercial for Burger King this wonderful Jalapeno Burger , and I wanted to create one myself. You pretty much just take your hamburger meat and season it with your favorite seasonings and add chopped jalapenos. Depending on how hot you like your food, when you pick out your jalapenos, you should pick the ones that are short and fat for a lot of heat and the longer ones for a milder heat. I found this out when I made these burgers, and although they were delicious, for my taste, they could have been a little hotter. At the end of when you take a bite of the burger, you have that wonderful heat that ends up in the back of your mouth. That to me is a perfect bite with some kick to it.
