Cheddar and Gruyere Cheese Bread Ring

The recipe for my Basic Potato Bread makes four loaves of bread, but I usually make three loaves of regular bread and use the fourth to make a cheese bread ring.

Basic Potato Bread

Basic Potato Bread , using leftover mashed potatoes will make soft fluffy white bread that slices perfect sandwich bread. There is nothing like the aroma of homemade bread coming straight from the oven. In my house there is no holding back, as soon as it comes out of the oven, the knife is ready to slice a big thick slice and immediately slather it with real butter. You have to eat it with both hands while the butter runs down the side of your face. Wow! Was I a little dramatic, or maybe more like was just telling the truth (grins). Needless to say, I don't have to tell you how much my family enjoys eating homemade bread. What I like most about this recipe is that it makes 4 loaves at a time. I use one piece of the dough to make my Cheddar Cheese Bread Ring and the other 3 pieces of dough I use to make regular loaves. This bread turned out to be a great accompaniment to a pot of Chunky Chicken Corn Chowder and Black-Eyed Pea and Kale Soup . Basic Potato Bread R

Jalapeno-Cheddar Scones

Jalapeno Cheddar Scones , pillows of tender biscuit like bread with speckles of jalapenos and cheddar cheese running all through it.   As I was thinking about what to make to go with my Simply Venison Stew, I remembered seeing Jalapeno Cheddar Scones over at Kristen's blog, Blissful Bites.   They looked scrumptious.

Miss Kay's Heavenly Rolls

Miss Kay's Heavenly Rolls , my family affectionately calls my homemade rolls, pillows of pure heaven.  They make an appearance at all our family dinners.    Yesterday my grandson turned 13 years old. I can't believe I have a teenage grandson and one that is taller than me.

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls

Homemade Cinnamon Rolls  take only minutes to rise. Bake for 15 minutes, and they are ready to eat.  Don't forget to drizzle lavishly with powdered sugar icing! Homemade Heavenly Cinnamon Rolls These are the easiest cinnamon rolls from scratch and are perfect for yeast beginners because there is only one 30 minute rise.  It is the best cinnamon roll recipe you will ever make. It only took just a little nudging from the family for me to make my Homemade Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast this Thanksgiving morning.

Classic Southern Cornbread

Classic Southern Cornbread is the iconic bread of the South that has graced tables for generations.   GRANNY'S SOUTHERN CORNBREAD My Mother's recipe is simple and straightforward. It is cooked in an iron skillet using three must ingredients: bacon drippings, buttermilk, and yellow cornmeal.   About cornbread , I don’t want to expound on this too much for fear of stepping on some people's toes. The people in the North like cornbread, made with sugar, half cornmeal, and half flour. But the people in the South like their cornbread with cornmeal and a little flour, if any, and definitely no sugar. Also, southern cornbread is traditionally made in an iron skillet, giving it the desired crispy crust I like so much. I must say, my taste for cornbread has been swayed to somewhere in the middle because I actually like both recipes.  I go back and forth. Sometimes, I want the salty, tangy taste of my Mother's cornbread, and sometimes, I like the sweetness of the no

Mexican Cornbread & Spicy Pinto Beans

Allow yourself to indulge in the simplicities of life, like enjoying a bowl of beans with a slice of buttered cornbread.  Even better with a slice of Mexican cornbread. JALAPENO CORNBREAD AND PINTO BEANS Jalapeno Cornbread and Pinto Beans go together like chocolate and peanut butter.  One can be eaten alone and be fabulous, or together, and you have a win win combination. The weather is turning cooler here in Texas, where we are, and it has been raining a lot. So, my husband and I have been in the mood for beans and cornbread. Sometimes, I cook my beans with meat, and sometimes, I just cook what I call spicy beans without meat. Usually, I cook them in my crockpot overnight, which is a great way to avoid waiting for the beans to cook during the day.
