How To Cook A Whole Bone In Ham

A Whole Bone In Ham recipe is so simple, with no glaze, no studding with cloves, and no fuss.  The recipe uses the low and slow cooking method and a blast of high heat at the end, caramelizing the outside.  The results are excellent, juicy, tender, and with superb flavor. Secrets To The Juiciest Ham With wide varieties of hams in grocery stores today, it can be daunting how to cook one.  I share secrets from how to buy ham, prepare ham, and cook the juiciest ham ever.  A whole bone in ham is the most effortless meat to cook for a holiday meal.  The preparation is equally as easy.   A whole ham is larger than needed for a regular meal but perfect for a large gathering or save and have for those wonderful leftover ham recipes. Most hams you buy are fully cooked, and all you do is score the ham and, if you want, add a simple glaze.  My family prefers the natural juices from the ham to baste the ham instead of a glaze.   By scoring a diamond pattern in the ham into the fat and skin, being

Old School Sloppy Joes Recipe Is Still The Best!

The name of this beloved sandwich gets it honest.   They are as tasty as they are sloppy. The name comes from piling so much meat sauce on a giant hamburger bun, a tiny slider bun, or between two slices of your favorite bread that you cannot help but need a napkin.  Did I say they were messy?

Curry Chicken Salad {Another Favorite for a Baby Shower!}

Curry Chicken Salad is the perfect salad to serve at a baby shower, brunch, or an afternoon tea.  It is a popular salad for entertaining. My daughter adores this recipe. I am continuing the post from last week on my daughter's favorite food we served at her baby shower.  You may have seen the picture on  Facebook announcing the arrival of my newest grandson. I love being a Grandma! This salad is so versatile to serve.  It can be served cold on a bed of lettuce with crackers…wrapped in a flour tortilla…or serve it on croissants like we did at my daughter's baby shower.   You make the salad with a roasted chicken, water chestnuts, celery, slivered almonds, red grapes, and dressed in a delectable curry dressing that keeps you wanting to come back for another bite.   Curry Chicken Salad is the perfect make ahead salad for any entertaining.  I make it the night before so the flavors marry together, and the curry stands out  better.  Make plenty

Baked Texas Style Chili Dogs {Granny's Recipe Revisited}

When I was in high school, I remember my mother would make these Baked Texas Style Chili Dogs sometimes on Friday nights just before we went to the football game. This was a quick way to serve chili dogs without having to set out all of the fixings, and clean up is quick.  What I like most about them is when they come out of the oven, the bun is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside along with the hot dog and chili. They are so yummy good! I made these with some of my Blue Ribbon 8-Hour Chili and served them for a quick Sunday lunch. We had some leftover, and I cut them in half and served them as mini chili dogs at our Life Group Meeting Sunday evening. They were a great hit with the children.

Ham & Cheese Sliders {Ideal Party Food}

The Super Bowl is coming up and what better slider to serve at your Super Bowl Party than these Ham and Cheese Sliders .  Here is how easy they are to make---assemble the sandwich, drizzle the sauce and heat them in the oven until the cheese is melted--how easy it that?  Sometimes I make the sandwiches up in the morning and put them in the refrigerator.  Just hold drizzling the sauce until ready to bake. The buttery mustard poppy seed sauce is what puts these sliders over the top.  Yummy yummy! You don't have to wait for a get together, or party to make these.  I made these with some leftover ham we had at Christmas for a quick supper.   If I were you, I wouldn't wait for the Super Bowl to make yours. (giggles)

Crusty Italian Bread is an easy homemade bread recipe made with two main ingredients, flour and yeast.  The rest is salt and water.  It has the perfect crust, crunchy and slightly chewiness.  And the inside is dreamy soft, and delightful!  All you want in a loaf of crusty bread. Making a Crusty Italian Bread doesn't have to be as pain laboring as I thought.   As soon as I saw this recipe over at Food For A Hungry Soul , I knew it would be my go-to crusty bread recipe too.  There is no kneading; you just mix all the ingredients, let it rise for four hours, shape it into loaves, and bake.  How c-r-a-z-y easy is that?

Jalapeno Burger {Every Bite Has A Kick}

  I have been seeing on the commercial for Burger King this wonderful Jalapeno Burger , and I wanted to create one myself.  You pretty much just take your hamburger meat and season it with your favorite seasonings and add chopped jalapenos. Depending on how hot you like your food, when you pick out your jalapenos, you should pick the ones that are short and fat for a lot of heat and the longer ones for a milder heat.  I found this out when I made these burgers, and although they were delicious, for my taste, they could have been a little hotter. At the end of when you take a bite of the burger, you have that wonderful heat that ends up in the back of your mouth.  That to me is a perfect bite with some kick to it.

Secret To Better Pimento Cheese

Better Pimento Cheese , delicious pimento cheese with a few secret ingredients to wow your guest.  Mix all the ingredients together,  put it in the fridge and the flavor just keeps getting better and better.   I have a friend, Pat Williams, that makes the most delicious P i m e n t o C h e e s e you will ever eat.  My family calls it Better Pimento Cheese . There are a few secrets that she shared with me about what makes hers stand out. One thing, she uses is an extra sharp cheddar cheese, (preferably Cabot Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese that she shreds herself), Helmsman's mayonnaise, and here is the crescendo diced Jalapenos .  How yummy is that?  She says that if you can wait, it taste better after being refrigerated for a day or so.  Thank you, Pat, for sharing your wonderful recipe with me!

Perfect Pulled Pork {Slow Roasted Pork Roast}

Perfect Pulled Pork is just that PERFECTLY cooked. Low and slow is the secret to the meat melting in your mouth, but the magic happens in the brining. As I was planning our Easter menu, I knew I wanted to cook a pork roast.  Pork Roast has a tendency to turn out dry, so I set out on a quest to find a recipe that would yield the most flavorful and succulent meat.
