Inspirational Thoughts #12 God's Not Dead!

This is a music video by Newsboys performing in the movie God's Not Dead .  The following is a synopsis of the movie from The Dove. Synopsis: This movie is about present-day college freshman and devout Christian, Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper), finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class by the dogmatic and argumentative Professor Radisson (Kevin Sorbo). Radisson begins class by informing students that they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God on that first day, or face a failing grade. As other students in the class begin scribbling the words “God Is Dead” on pieces of paper as instructed, Josh find himself at a crossroads, having to choose between his faith and his future. Josh offers a nervous refusal, provoking an irate reaction from his smug professor. Radisson assigns him a daunting task: if Josh will not admit that “God Is Dead,” he must prove God’s existence by presenting well-researched, intellectual arguments and evidence over

Strawberry Jello Angel Food Cake

This  Strawberry Jello, Angel Food Cake  recipe is from Tupperware.   Yes, they have tons of recipes using their products, many that I have today.   Tupperware products are now vintage classics, and many kitchens still use them today.  They last forever, which says a lot about the products we get today. Strawberry season is coming on strong around these parts, my house included.  We just love strawberries in anything. My husband is a big fan of this luscious fruit.  He is the first to clean and slice, if necessary, each time I bring them home from the grocery store.   He will say, "we don't want to let them ruin."  I notice a lot of them go missing when I'm getting ready to use them in a dish.  ha! ha! Starting with a store bought Angel Food Cake,  this gorgeous cake comes together in no time.  Place it in the refrigerator and watch it transform into light and airy deliciousness.   Another reason this cake is a favorite in our family is that we ma

Queso Macaroni and Cheese {Made from leftover queso.}

This recipe for Queso Macaroni and Cheese came about from having leftover queso that I made for a family get together.  It was just enough to spice up some macaroni and cheese.   The queso is the classic Velveeta and Rotel tomato recipe that is always a crowd pleaser.  I love having leftover queso to add flavor to breakfast casseroles, vegetables, and meat dishes so I usually make more than we are going to eat.   I hope the next time you make queso you will make this recipe for Queso Macaroni and Cheese.   It is easy and quick to prepare not to mention yummy too, and was an excelent accompaniment to the Baked BBQ Country Style Pork Steaks .  Enjoy!

Baked BBQ Country Style Pork Steaks {Ribs} + how to get them to taste like they are grilled outside!

Last week we were in an ice storm here in Texas much like the east coast was in.  Around my house, we have been trying to hurry up Spring so we can get started grilling outside, but with the weather in the 20's and 30's here there is no way my husband is going to be grilling outside.

Glazed Strawberry Bread

Glazed Strawberry Bread  will get you in the mood for Spring.  It is full of fresh strawberries and covered with a simple glaze. STRAWBERRY QUICK BREAD Strawberry bread tastes like spring in a quick bread.  It is so tender, moist, and full of strawberry goodness.  The recipe is easy and quick, with no mixer needed. We love this bread for breakfast, but who says you can't have it for dessert with a dollop of whipped cream and some chunky strawberry sauce?  I can't wait for Spring to arrive in East Texas! Unlike when I was growing up, fresh fruit is in the grocery stores all year around, but one thing hasn't changed: seasonal fruit always has a better price because it is plentiful.   Like apples in the Fall are cheaper,  peaches, watermelons and cantaloupes in the summer, and all kinds of berries in the spring and early summer.   I love that Strawberries are beginning to make a big appearance here in the grocery stores, which means the prices will start to go down.

Mother's Meatloaf {Granny's Recipe}

Cream of Mushroom Meatloaf,  simple ingredients, cream of mushroom soup, Lipton Onion Soup mix, oatmeal and lean ground hamburger.  Cook in an iron skillet and it will give the most wonderful juices to make a creamy gravy! Cream of Mushroom Meatloaf is a meatloaf recipe my Mother use to make as an alternative to the traditional meatloaf recipes made with tomato sauce or ketchup.

Baked Texas Style Chili Dogs {Granny's Recipe Revisited}

When I was in high school, I remember my mother would make these Baked Texas Style Chili Dogs sometimes on Friday nights just before we went to the football game. This was a quick way to serve chili dogs without having to set out all of the fixings, and clean up is quick.  What I like most about them is when they come out of the oven, the bun is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside along with the hot dog and chili. They are so yummy good! I made these with some of my Blue Ribbon 8-Hour Chili and served them for a quick Sunday lunch. We had some leftover, and I cut them in half and served them as mini chili dogs at our Life Group Meeting Sunday evening. They were a great hit with the children.

German Chocolate Cake Balls

German Chocolate Cake Balls are just another addition to my long list of German Chocolate favorites.   If you have not made cake balls before, this recipe is a good one to start with.  Typically, you can make them with cake mixes, canned frosting, and dipping chocolate.   How easy is that?  Only 3 ingredients! Valentine's is just around the corner, and these would be a wonderful treat.    These are fun to make with your children and Grandchildren like I did.   We had so much fun making them, and dipping them was the best.   For some more wonderful Valentine's treats, look to the right on the sidebar.
