Red White & Blue Jello Dessert {Fun Dessert To Celebrate July 4th}

July the 4th is just around the corner. I don't know about you all, but this summer is going by so fast for me.   With canning and putting up vegetables from the garden in the freezer, I am loosing track of time. I decided to stop for a little while today and post this fun Red White & Blue Jello Dessert that my grandchildren and I made last year for the 4th of July .  This is one that I never got around to posting.  We had so much fun making it, and with our  100 degree temperatures here in Texas, you could say, it was the coolest dessert to make!  Ha! Ha! There are some really cute and yummy recipes that are made with jello on Pinterest that I have pinned.   We came up with using strawberry jello for the red layer and  blueberry for the blue layer.  The white layer is sour cream sweetened with a little powder sugar.  We decided to layer the jello in a large bowl as you can see and top it off with some sweetened whipped cream.  This is a simple and easy to

Three Different Fruit Crisps {Simple and Quick Desserts}

Fruit Crisp is quick and straightforward to prepare.   You can use almost any fruit to create a scrumptious dessert using relatively few ingredients and even substitute sugars and flours to make them healthier.   Here is an excellent link giving you the differences between Crisp, Cobblers, Crumbles, and other fruit desserts.  For the Raspberry Crisp , I used a gluten-free baking mix and added chopped nuts for additional deliciousness. One of the reasons I made these three Fruit Crisp is I had fresh raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries sitting in the refrigerator that were needing to be eaten.   Actually, that is how fruit crisp came about.  English settlers in American made the dish as a way of using up seasonal fruit. I thought about making smoothies, and then I thought about making a cobbler using all of them together, but I really had my mind on making a crisp.   I had a small package of sliced peaches in the freezer that was too small to make a cobbler w

Grilled Summer Veggies ~ Add Them To Your Summer Menu!

Summer is here and what better time to get out and grill. This past Memorial Day Weekend, that is just what we did.  We Grilled Summer Veggies ~ purple onions, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, red bell pepper, and mushrooms which are not a summer vegetable, but oh so good on the grill! You can't go wrong with grilling most any vegetable.  Just use what you have on hand or what is coming out of your garden is even better.  Soak your wooden skewers in a pan of water and start adding the veggies.  Or you can use a grilling pan to grill them as well.  One thing to remember is to keep the veggies as much the same size as possible so  that they cook evenly. They are a quick and easy summer side dish that you are going to want to make often.  So many recipes out their using grilled vegetables from putting them in salads to adding them to casseroles.  I like to make a lot at one time and then do just that ~ add them to a salad.  This is a great way to get your children or

Inspirational Thoughts #4

This week Joyce Meyer's devotional was one that really blessed me and I wanted to pass it along.   Glean from God's Word this morning. Let God Be Your Tour Guide   Psalm 48:14 When He walked on this earth, Jesus always knew the right thing to do because He did only what He saw His Father do. As our Lord, we can trust Him to lead us down the right path every day. Psalm 48:14 says that God will be our guide even unto death! How wonderful to know that we have a guide to get us from one destination in life to the next. When my husband, Dave, and I visit a new place, we often hire a guide. Once we decided to explore by ourselves, but we quickly discovered that this was a complete waste of time. We spent most of the day lost, desperately trying to find our way back. Sometimes I think we treat life the same way Dave and I treated that trip. It's always easier to follow an experienced guide than to wander aimlessly on your own. Instead of going your
