Chunky Buttered Potatoes

How many ways can you fix potatoes? My husband is a meat and potatoes guy. He could eat potatoes every meal I think, so I am always changing up the potatoes in our house. This time I used a simple version of the typical mashed potatoes without adding in the milk. As I said in the previous post, he likes the purest form of the vegetable, and this is as close as you can get to it. Potatoes prepared this way go well with the Oven Fried Chicken and Glazed Carrots with Thyme .

Glazed Carrots With Thyme

Something as simple as buttered carrots can be taken to a new level with just adding a fresh sprig of thyme to them.

Jalapeno-Cheddar Scones

Jalapeno Cheddar Scones , pillows of tender biscuit like bread with speckles of jalapenos and cheddar cheese running all through it.   As I was thinking about what to make to go with my Simply Venison Stew, I remembered seeing Jalapeno Cheddar Scones over at Kristen's blog, Blissful Bites.   They looked scrumptious.

Simply Venison Stew

This  Simply Venison Stew  is another family favorite using venison that I serve often. It is a simple recipe, yet bold with flavor. The long, slow cooking in a homemade beef broth ensures that the meat will be tender and succulent. If you don’t have venison, feel free to substitute beef chuck, rump roast or sirloin tip. Serve with dinner rolls or as I did with Jalapeno Cheddar Scones for sopping up those delicious juices. Venison Stew Ingredients: 3 tablespoons olive oil 2 pounds venison stew meat 1/4-1/2 cup flour 1 teaspoons garlic powder 1 teaspoon ground coriander 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon coarse ground pepper 2 cups chopped onions 1 cup chopped celery 1 cup chopped carrots 1 tablespoon chopped garlic 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme 2 bay leaves 4-6 potatoes, cubed 2-3 cups homemade beef broth (or canned) Directions: In a large pot, over high heat, add the olive oil. In a mixing bowl, toss the venison with flour and garlic powder, c

Miss Kay's Heavenly Rolls

Waldorf Salad with Dried Cherries

This  Waldorf Salad with Dried Cherries  is a very easy and simple salad with my take on the original Waldorf Astoria Salad which has a long, rich history. The original Waldorf Astoria Salad was created in the 1890s at New York's Waldorf-Astoria hotel by maĆ®tre d' Oscar Tschirky. The original salad contained only mayonnaise, red apples, and celery, and was usually served on a bed of lettuce. In later years as is today, it is generally served with walnuts and other ingredients. Mayonnaise, red apples, celery, and walnuts are the way I remember my mother making her Waldorf Salad. In this recipe, I have combined a tart Granny Smith apple with a sweet Gala apple, and for that additional tart and sweet taste, I added dried cherries and toasted walnuts. From the days of my childhood, the recipe may have changed, but not the taste of the crispness of the apples, celery, and walnuts mix together with that wonderful mayonnaise dressing. Pecan Pie Bars

Pecan Pie Bars start with a buttery shortbread crust and are layered with a gooey pecan filling.  A simple and delicious pecan pie baked into a bar.  Perfect for serving a crowd! If you are a fan of Pecan Pie, you might think that the next best thing is Pecan Pie Bars. The crust is so easy to make, and then all you do is pour a pecan pie like filling on top and bake for 25 minutes. How easy is that?

Tiger Butter Candy {Jennifer's Recipe}

Tiger Butter Candy is the BOMB! Can you guess how easy it is to make 3 ingredients look so sophisticated and taste so good? When my daughter was a teenager, I remember almost every time she went to the mall, she would stop by the candy store, Morrow's Nut House, and buy some Tiger Butter .
