TIPS AND TIDBITS FOR THE BEST CHOCOLATE FUDGE PIE
Chocolate cocoa. Sift the cocoa powder and flour to avoid lumps.
Eggs. Add the eggs to the cooled, melted butter, not straight out of the melting process.
Common Ingredients Ratios. 3/4 cup melted butter to 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour purpose flour. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder to 1/3 cup all-purpose flour. 2-3 large eggs to 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla.
Fudgier pie. Lower the temperature to 300 degrees F. and bake 50-60 minutes.
Overbaking. The pie is done when the edges are set and slightly cracked, but the center still moves slightly. It will firm up as it cools.
Baking. If the crust begins to brown too much, place a ring of foil strips around the edge of the pie crust.
Serving. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Sugar
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Butter, melted
Whole large eggs
Milk (evaporated, whole, or half and half)
Vanilla
Salt
Sweetened whipped cream
