Sheet Pan Roasted Hamburger Steak Dinner

Roasted Hamburger Steak , lean ground beef seasoned with simple seasonings roasted in a sheet pan with whole garlic bulbs, and vegetables.  The final touches bring this meal to a whole new level, melted butter; roasted garlic smeared on top--oh! my. Sheet pan dinners have become a favorite around our house lately.  We love the ease of preparation and clean up, consisting of cooking the entire meal in a sheet pan.

Simple Plum Clafoutis

Plum Clafoutis is a dessert that can be elegant or rustic, depending on how it is baked.  I decided to go the rustic route and bake mine in a cast iron skillet.  The recipe is easy---really showcasing the plums in taste and beauty. Simple can be gorgeous! Simple Baked Plum Custard The joy of this simple custard is that it is often served at room temperature and dusted with powdered sugar.  Although plums are a crowd pleaser in this French dessert, cherries are traditional. Arranging the plums on top of the custard is elegant perfection in itself, but mine seemed to move when I poured the custard over them.  Oh well, I did say I went the rustic route, didn't I?

Homemade Apple Dumplings

Homemade Apple Dumplings are made by peeling and coring apples, then filling them with a cinnamon sugar mixture. They are wrapped in a buttery, flaky pie crust and spooned with a warm syrup mixture of butter, sugar, and water.  They are perfectly cooked, and you are in heaven!   Apple Dumplings Apple dumplings evoke all the warm feelings of fall. Whenever I make these,  it never ceases to amaze me how many memories come flooding in. I always think of my dear friend, an exceptional baker and cook who shared this recipe with me many years ago.     Homemade sometimes means a time-consuming recipe.  These are well worth it, down to making the homemade crust.   On the plus side, the apple dumplings also freeze well for later baking.   This saves time when baking for holidays, when there is so much to do, getting ready for guests or family coming.
