Candy Corn Bark

Candy Corn Bark is made with chocolate almond bark, pretzels, Golden Oreos, and the star, candy corn.  The perfect treat to celebrate fall. Fall is in the air, and the first thing I want to do is make something fun and easy, which brings me to making something with Candy Corn.  Every since I can remember candy corn has been a popular candy treat around Fall.

M&M Patriotic Celebration Cookies {Easy and Fun To Make}

These are some Patriotic Cookies that my grandson, Caleb made last summer when we had our cookie marathon, and I never got it posted.

Mud Hen Bars

Mud Hen Bars  starts off with a cookie crust topped with pecans, marshmallows, and chocolate chips, but the magic comes with the final layer of brown sugar meringue...mmm, so good! In the 50s, the recipe did not have chocolate chips or mini marshmallows in it.  This just shows you how recipes evolve over the years.  I remember eating them with just pecans.

Linzer Christmas Cookies

Linzer Cookies are Austria's most famous dessert.  Traditionally the cookies are made with almond flour, and the cookies are sandwiched together with a layer of jelly or jam.  The top cookie is dusted with powered sugar and has a cutout so the jam, typically raspberry,  is visible making them very decadent. Linzer Christmas Cookies are an embellished version of the real thing.  I make mine from my favorite sugar cookie recipe, sandwich them with seedless jam, and embellish them with drizzled white chocolate and sprinkles of coarse sugar, which makes them irresistible.

M&M Fall Celebration Cookies {Why Caleb Divided The M&Ms?}

These M&M Fall Celebration Cookies are another cookie recipe we made during our cookie marathon  when the Grandchildren were here this summer.   They were made by Caleb, my 10 year old grandson using mini M&Ms.   Caleb is so creative and such a perfectionist when is comes to choosing a great presentation.  We had some mini M&Ms leftover from Easter so he picked out the Orange, Brown, and Yellow ones for this recipe.   He did such a fantastic job.  He not only worked so hard at reading and getting the recipe right, he made sure they were all the same size.  Great job Caleb! This year at Easter, I bought mini M&Ms that had Easter packaging around them…and when I went to open them, the mini M&Ms were not Easter colors. I decided to save them for something else. This summer while my grandson was visiting we decided to divide them and make cookies with them. He got the idea to use the red, white and blue ones for pat

Lemon Lime Sugar Cookies {Caleb's Yummy Creation}

Here is another cookie recipe we made during our cookie marathon I had when the Grandchildren were here.  These Lemon Lime Sugar Cookies were made by Caleb, my 10 year old grandson, and came about when we decided that we needed another flavor besides chocolate and peanut butter.  Caleb is so creative and such a perfectionist when is comes to choosing a great presentation.  We had some mini M&Ms leftover from Easter so he picked out the yellow and green ones for this recipe.  He did such a fantastic job.  He not only worked so hard at reading and getting the recipe right, he made them look so pretty.  Just that little bit of chocolate mixed with the lemon lime in the cookies made these super delicious!

Peanut Butter Chip & Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies {Hannah's Favorite}

This last week was a busy one for me with having all of my grandchildren at my house off and on during the whole week.  On Saturday, two of my grandchildren and I, baked cookies all day.  I think when it was all said and done, we had baked eight dozen cookies.  These Peanut Butter and Milk Chocolate Chip Cookies were made by my 11 year old granddaughter, Hannah.  She not only worked hard at reading and making sure she got the recipe right, but making sure that each cookie was the same size. She did such a fantastic job.  Of all the cookies we made these were her favorite.  How can you go wrong....peanut butter and chocolate...yum.

Strawberry Shortcake Cookies

Valentine Treats! Marshmallow Pops

Valentine's Marshmallow Pops are the perfect treat to make for celebrating Love in the air!  Each one can personalize their favorite candy.     What do you do with your grandchildren for Valentine's ?  In the last few years, one of my favorite things to do with the grandchildren around holidays or celebrations is to include them in making treats.  Not only is it fun for them, but they also have the time of their life getting to use their creativity and imagination, not to say their appetites too -- for all those yummy ingredients. This year I wanted to do something that they could dip chocolate in since I had so much left over from Christmas.  At first, I thought of strawberries (and they love those), then I thought about cake balls (and they love those), but I saw these strawberry marshmallows at Walmart and decided that they would be fun to dip too.  To add little piazzas to them, I bought some Valentine's sprinkles, and as you can see in the picture also, the cocon

Homemade Almond Joys

Candy making is fun to make at home during the holidays.  Especially with few ingredients.  These Homemade Almond Joys are full of soft, chewy coconut filling and super easy to make.  You are going to love the results!   Almond Joys  Almond Joys do taste better than store bought, with rich chocolate, plenty of creamy sweet coconut, and a roasted almond in the center, and they are easier to make than you think. As soon as I saw the recipe for Homemade Almond Joys , I knew they would be going in my Christmas gift boxes this year. I have to say they taste like the real candy in the stores. They are soft and creamy on the inside, and with the bite of the almond and all that coconut, you are in yummyville!!!

Oreo truffles, cookie crumbs blended with cream cheese and covered with a chocolate candy coating for the best-tasting truffles. These Oreo Truffles were a great addition to the  Red Velvet and Coconut Cream Cake Balls I served recently at a reception. Over at  Bakerella's blog post, she says it best "Oreo Truffles made with, you guessed it… Oreo cookies. They are super easy to make and even easier to eat. Oreo cookies are crushed blended with cream cheese and then covered in white chocolate".

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Blossoms

Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Blossoms are homemade candy made with crunchy rice cereal, creamy peanut butter mixture, and a chocolate kiss candy.  Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Kisses took me a long way back when I visited my sister at her house for Christmas. I can still remember looking in each Christmas tin she had her goodies in until I found them. Oh, with the combination of the peanut butter mixture and the chocolate kiss in the center, you could quickly go to "yummieville" (a sugar coma, you might say) real quick!
