Homemade Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce
Homemade Whole Berry Cranberry , fresh cranberries, pomegranate juice, chopped dried cherries, and chopped pecans. The pectin in the berries brings it all together in an amazing dense sauce. Homemade Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce has been on our Thanksgiving dinner table for years. You may be asking the question why homemade? Believe me, you will never buy canned ever again. Mother use to make it from the recipe on the back of the bag of cranberries. I decided a couple of years ago that I wanted to enhance the sweet tartness of the cranberry flavor. So I added pomegranate juice and chopped dried cherries along with some chopped pecans for some crunch.

Old Fashioned Pure Maple Pecan Pie
Pure Maple Pecan Pie, a sweet, deep flavor of maple syrup complementing the richness of pecans in a classic pecan pie. Perfect for any Thanksgiving meal! Pecan Pie is Jim's favorite pie any time of the year, but definitely around Thanksgiving. This past week I made a Pear Dumplings Cobbler and had enough pie dough left to form a single pie crust. So I decided I would make a pecan pie for Jim since he loves them so, but when I got ready to make it, I didn't have quite enough corn syrup to make one. But I did have some maple syrup. The maple syrup sounded so good, but Jim is the same old...same old classic pecan pie kind of guy. He doesn't like me to change his likes too much. So I decided to surprise him with an Old Fashioned Pure Maple Pecan Pie.

His and Her Sweet Potato Casserole
His and Her Sweet Potato Casserole, two Thanksgiving traditions come together, toasted marshmallows and pecan crumble toppings blanketing creamy smooth sweet potatoes. Scrumptious!! His and Her Sweet Potato Casserole is the perfect sweet potato dish. We have half of our family that likes the marshmallow topping and half that like the crumble topping, so last year, I came up with the idea to serve one dish with two variations. It was such a hit that I decided to make it again this year.

Roasted Cinnamon Buttery Pears
Roasted Cinnamon Buttery Pears, simple dish showcasing the straightforward flavor of pears. They are buttery slightly sweet served as an accompaniment to pork, garnished in a winter salad, but also makes an elegant dessert for a fall dinner party, bridal brunch and quick weeknight snack. Pears rarely get center stage over apples and pumpkins in the fall, but for me, they sing fall. Roasting fruit is a purist way to dress up fruit for dessert or accompaniment to other dishes. As much as I like pears, I do not wish to mask the pure flavor of the pear with a lot of other intense flavors. When I eat pears, I want to taste pears.

American Flag Pie with Homemade Pie Crust
American Flag Pie, is made with a homemade pie crust that brings this pie to a rich balance of buttery flakiness as well as a luscious sweet-tart taste of homemade pie filling. My Mother taught me long ago that a pie is only as good as the crust. There is some high quality ready made pie crust in the stores today, but when I was growing up, that was not the case. I learned to make pie dough from my Mother and perfected it in my Home Economics class in high school. I recommend making a homemade pie crust if at all possible. For the American Flag Pie recipe, I use one of my favorite pie crust recipes.

Grandma's Cornbread Dressing Stuffed Turkey {A whole baked turkey cooked in a pan of cornbread dressing}
Grandma's Cornbread Dressing Stuffed Turkey, a whole baked turkey cooked in a pan of cornbread dressing. The best turkey and dressing you will ever eat. And don't forget the giblet gravy! This is my Mother in law, Betty's recipe. When I came into the family, I was not use to eating turkey stuffed with cornbread dressing. I grew up eating the turkey baked separately from the dressing. It did not take me long to get used to eating the turkey and dressing stuffed.

Cranberry Pork Chops {Perfect for Thanksgiving}
Cranberry Pork Chops, thick succulent pork chops browned in a cast iron skillet on top of the stove, covered with whole cranberry sauce, a sprig of rosemary and finished off in the oven. Perfect for a Thanksgiving alternative from traditional turkey. Pork chops are a favorite around our house. We like them fried, grilled, smothered, in casseroles and just about any way you can cook them. We do prefer the bone in pork chops for grilling and frying because they are juicier. The boneless ones have their place though, like in casseroles and dishes that are served with sauces.
