Chocolate Chip Buttermilk Pancakes

Chocolate Chip Pancakes with mini chocolate chips are sure to please everyone for a special occasion or any day.   Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Pancakes These melt in your mouth chocolate chip pancakes are rich, buttery, light and fluffy, and incredibly easy to make.  Top them with whipped cream and fresh fruit, then drizzle with warm pure maple syrup. We love pancakes at our house, but when special occasions come, we pull out all the stops. Birthdays and sleepovers are some of our favorites. My buttermilk chocolate chip pancakes are fluffy, sweet, with the tang of buttermilk seeping through, making them the perfect morning dream come true. What I love about making pancakes is that there are no crazy ingredients to come up with.  I primarily need to ensure my buttermilk is fresh.  I use full-fat buttermilk in my pancake recipe, yielding the most tender pancakes.

Italian Crostata Jam Pie Tart

This pastry takes on the elements of an Italian tart, made with a buttery crust that yields the right amount of flakiness and a jam filling.  Simple and delicious, perfect for brunch. A Simple Crostata   A Crostata is one of those desserts that is known and made all throughout Italy, a rustic version of an open fruit tart. The shortbread crust is unique in that it is made with flour, sugar, eggs, egg yolks, and baking powder.  It is filled with the traditional jam, but there are new ingredients that have swept across the United States, Nutella, ricotta, and pastry cream.

Gingerbread Pear Upside Down Cake

Warm gingerbread cake baked in a skillet on top of a sweet mixture of caramelized pears and flipped over to reveal a stunning presentation, fancy enough for a Thanksgiving dessert. Gingerbread Pear Upside Down Cake The pairing of gingerbread and pears brings this cake to the forefront for the fall.   The pears hold up exceptionally well and complement the cake's warm spices nicely. Upside-down cakes are famous here in the South, with pineapple being the most traditional.    This Gingerbread Pear Upside Down Cake tastes and looks impressive, and is made using a simple shortcut to save time and effort in the kitchen. The cake is moist and dense, just like I like it.  Usually, gingerbread cakes get better with age, but you will want to eat this cake in a day or two since the pears begin to soften.   The structure of pears changes when cooked, unlike other fruits used in upside-down cakes, such as pineapple, peaches, and apples. Serve thick cake slices at ...

Banana Carrot Muffins The recipe for these banana carrot muffins is packed with a full cup of bananas and 2 cups of shredded carrots, enhanced with brown sugar and a tiny bit of cinnamon and cardamom, yielding a light, fluffy and moist muffin. These Banana Carrot Muffins are delicious out of the oven or reheated after freezing.

Air Fryer TikTok Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

For a quick and easy breakfast, you don't have to heat up the oven. Try making these Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls in the air fryer. You will not be disappointed . No Yeast Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls In this recipe, there is no yeast to rise. I combined the viral TikTok cinnamon roll hack ingredients of heavy cream, brown sugar, and sweetened pumpkin puree with store-bought canned biscuits. They have all the flavors of homemade yeast-raised cinnamon rolls. I use my air fryer nearly every day in the summer months. There is not much that I can't cook, bake, or grill in it.  I have been seeing the TikTok sensation for canned cinnamon rolls on every social media platform lately, so I wanted to give them a try in my air fryer using sweetened pumpkin puree.  The viral TikTok cinnamon roll hack uses heavy cream, brown sugar, and cinnamon.   They are truly delicious, with pumpkin pie filling and cozy pumpkin pie spice in every bite, then topped with brown butter icing; oh my gracious, ...

Southern Sweet Iced Tea Made in A French Press

Southern Iced Sweet Tea Made in a French Press is a quick and easy way to make tea using tea bags or loose tea since it strains automatically after steeping.   Southern Sweet Tea A French press is not just for coffee; it is so adaptable that it can even be used for Southern sweet tea. I love sweet tea, and the stronger, the better.  When I think of a French press, I think of making strong coffee, but one day, I thought, why not tea? I have used my French press to make my tea for the last couple of years.  I pour the boiling water over the tea bags, let them steep for 4 or 5 minutes, and pour in my tea pitcher with a cup of sugar.   This summer, though, I have been adding the sugar to the French press, pouring the hot water over it, giving it a couple of stirs, adding the tea bags, and then pushing the plunger down just below the water to steep, oh my so good.

These different biscuit recipes give me many options for a meal, not to mention what I have in my pantry when I want to make biscuits.   On a trip to my grandson's graduation, all the family met for breakfast at a restaurant featuring biscuits and several jam ...

No Fuss Blackberry Sweet Rolls

No Fuss Blackberry Sweet Rolls, a soft, tender dough swirled with a mixture of vanilla, brown sugar, butter, and a generous layer of luscious, whole blackberries all throughout and topped with a cream cheese frosting. Blackberry Sweet Rolls Your weekend will get a lot sweeter with these blackberry sweet rolls, which are so delicious. Blackberry season is just around the corner, and the first thing I want to make is the  Blackberry Dumpling Cobbler .   Last year, I couldn't stop buying the large cartons of blackberries at SAMs.   The price always drops around this time of year, so it is worth buying several cartons and keeping them in the freezer for later in the year to make these Blackberry Sweet Rolls. Sweet rolls are a favorite weekend breakfast treat. My go-to recipe is Homemade Cinnamon Rolls. They rise for 30 minutes and bake for 15 minutes, making them perfect, no fuss sweet rolls.

Fabulous Watermelon Juice Recipe

Fabulous fresh Watermelon Juice. Naturally sweet, refreshing chunks of watermelon yield a superb juice, perfect on a hot summer day.     WATERMELON JUICE The ingredients are simple—just one: watermelon. Spice it up by rubbing the cut side of lime onto the rim of the glass and dipping it in the spicy Tajin. It's so tasty. I have expectations of making watermelon juice each summer. After spending time in Mexico on a mission trip, watermelon juice became a favorite.   I remember it was the first thing I thought about on my way to eating breakfast.   I remember most of the watermelon juice being served at room temperature, and it didn't bother me at all.  The vibrant flavor of the watermelon was delightful.

Baked Ham and Angel Biscuit Sliders

Baked Ham and Angel Biscuits Sliders, a country-smoked ham sandwiched between a fluffy buttermilk biscuit.  These are perfect appetizer to serve at parties. Baked Ham and Biscuit Sliders These Baked Ham and Biscuit Sliders are seriously amazing, loaded with slices of homemade baked ham and slathered with sriracha mayo sauce, and simply delicious. This time of the year makes me think of all the ways to serve Baked Country Ham and Angel Biscuit Sliders, Easter Brunch, Mother's Day Brunch, Graduation Parties, Bridesmaid Brunch,  and the list goes on and on. The biscuit recipe for these sliders is the vintage Angel Biscuits, a cross between a buttermilk biscuit and a Parker House roll.   These flaky, light biscuits hold up superbly for sliders with chunky slices of ham and a creamy, smooth, spicy sauce made with sriracha, mustard, and mayonnaise.

Lemon Bars Recipe

Old-fashioned lemon bars are the quintessential southern dessert at teas, brunches, luncheons, and showers.   Lemon Bars Lemon Bars strike a balance between sweetness and tartness, featuring a rich shortbread crust and a luscious filling made with fresh lemon juice and zest, eggs, sugar, and flour. The combination is amazing. I hope you will get to make some Lemon Bars for your Easter celebration.   Enjoy!

Canadian Bacon & Gruyere Egg Cups

Canadian Bacon & Gruyere Egg Cups only have three ingredients to make a simple but fancy breakfast recipe for special occasions or weekend brunch. Canadian Bacon Egg Cups These Canadian Bacon Egg Cups are cooked in cups of Canadian Bacon with a sprinkle of Gruyere cheese in between.  They are an inviting breakfast dish and an ideal low-carb option. These Canadian Bacon & Gruyere Egg Cups are great if you are on a low carb, keto, or gluten-free diet.  Canadian bacon is lower in calories than bacon, making it Weight Watcher friendly, too.   The Canadian bacon is crispy around the egg whites, with the egg yokes runny, making them inviting to dip with toast strips.   On weekends, when the whole family is here, I like to make big pans of breakfast food so everyone can eat at the same time. I love to make Canadian bacon & Gruyere Cups with a pan of country potatoes and a bowl of fresh fruit salad. The perfect breakfast!

Old Fashioned Doughnuts

Old-fashioned doughnuts , just like Grandma used to make,  are  easy and straightforward.   The dough is very forgiving and easy to work with.  One of the ingredients will surprise you, yielding a texture nothing short of perfection. CAKE DOUGHNUTS HOLES Cake doughnuts are leavened with baking powder, rather than yeast. These have the ideal texture, just like the ones you remember.  And they are perfect for just cutting out the doughnut holes when you want a mini version. Have you ever wanted to make old fashioned doughnut from scratch that does not take all day in the kitchen to make?   That's me...I like to get up early on a Saturday morning and whip up a batch of cake doughnuts, just like the bakery down the street, before everyone gets up.    I learned from Ashley Strickland Freeman, the author of The Duke's Real Mayonnaise Cookbook, that she also enjoys making homemade doughnuts on Saturday mornings.  Ashley reached out to me t...

Roasted Cinnamon Buttery Pears

Roasted Cinnamon Buttery Pears, simple dish showcasing the straightforward flavor of pears.  They are buttery slightly sweet served as an accompaniment to pork, garnished in a winter salad, but also makes an elegant dessert for a fall dinner party, bridal brunch and quick weeknight snack. Pears rarely get center stage over apples and pumpkins in the fall, but for me, they sing fall.  Roasting fruit is a purist way to dress up fruit for dessert or accompaniment to other dishes. As much as I like pears, I do not wish to mask the pure flavor of the pear with a lot of other intense flavors.  When I eat pears, I want to taste pears.

Kolache Biscuits

Kolach Biscuits, tender, sweet biscuit dough with a well in the center filled with blackberry or strawberry jam, blueberry or cherry pie filling,  or a mixture of sweetened cream cheese.   Kolache Biscuits are a cross between a sweet pastry that originated in Europe including eventually making its way to a little town in central Texas and the classic biscuit that is popular all over the south.

Challah French Toast Recipe

Challah French Toast Recipe, fluffy thick sliced Challah bread dipped in a creamy egg mixture until soaked through but not soggy then fried in sizzling butter.  Ideal to serve for brunch, weekend family breakfast, or like we do for weeknight dinner. French toast is one of those foods that remind me of my childhood when my Mother would make it on Saturday morning during the winter months.   The house would be so cold in the mornings.  We had open flame heaters in the living room and bathroom.  She would light the oven in the kitchen for heat too as she started the bacon cooking.    French toast is comfort food for breakfast that will warm you up fast.  Mother's french toast on cold Saturday mornings is still one of my favorite memories of her in the kitchen.

Sausage Gravy Breakfast Enchiladas

Sausage Gravy Breakfast Enchiladas-  Hearty breakfast enchiladas with a Southern spin on a favorite Mexican dish, your whole family will thank you in advance. Breakfast Enchilada Casserole If you're a breakfast casserole fan, you'll love these Breakfast Enchiladas with Sausage Gravy. Not only are the enchiladas delicious and a little unique, but they are also easy to make and can be prepared the night before for brunch or a family breakfast the next morning. Get all the ingredients ready and assemble the breakfast enchiladas the night before.  Make the sausage gravy the next morning, then pop it in the oven. For the ingredients, I used hot sausage, white sharp cheddar cheese, and shredded hash browns.  I softly scramble the eggs because they will cook some more in the enchiladas. If you prefer to change the ingredients to your taste, feel free to do so, but I recommend the white sharp cheddar cheese in these Breakfast Enchiladas.  It just makes them super delici...
