Magic Green Beans

Magic Green Beans, baked in a casserole dish with all the sweet, savory and amazing flavors of the fancy green bean bundles that are so popular in fine dining restaurants and around the holidays without all the fuss!

Have you made the Green Bean Bundles?  These fancy little bundles are a lot of trouble to make, but for our fancy Christmas dinner, Prime Rib, Smashed Fingerling Potatoes, Green Salad, and hot buttered rolls, nothing is too much trouble.

Green Bean Bundles just go with our fancy menu.

The Green Bean Bundles are so easy to put together, but they are very time consuming when you need to make enough to serve a large crowd.

Who doesn't love the flavor of bacon wrapped around a bundle of green beans, and a combination of brown sugar, butter, salt, and Worchester sauce poured over them and baked to perfection?

To solve the problem, we started making Unbundled Green Beans in a casserole dish.

You may be asking "What is Unbundled Green Beans?"

I start by frying diced pieces of bacon in a dutch oven.  Transfer the cooked bacon pieces to a plate and add the whole green beans and toss in the bacon grease until well coated.    Simmer a few minutes while you make the sweet and savory sauce.

Add half of the bacon pieces and toss until distributed well.  Transfer the coated green and bacon to a casserole dish.

Spoon the sweet and savory sauce over the green bean mixture.  Place in a 375 degree F. oven and bake for 30-40 minutes.  Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remainder of the bacon pieces over the top.

I am so happy we decided to make these Unbundled Green Beans throughout the year and not just at the holidays.

I hope you get to make some soon.  Enjoy!
